Channel Talk Service's Privacy Policy

Channel Corporation (hereinafter "Channel"), as an information and communication service provider, complies with the relevant laws and regulations of the Republic of Korea on the collection, use, and sharing of personal information, and actively guarantees the rights of Managers and Customers regarding personal information, including the right to self-determination of personal information.


This Privacy Policy (hereinafter “Policy”) applies to the Channel Talk Service (hereinafter "Services") provided by Channel.


Managers and Customers (collectively, hereinafter "Users"), who are personal information subjects who actually use the Channel's Services, are deemed to have agreed to the Channel's collection, use, and provision of personal information in accordance with the above Privacy Policy by clicking the "Sign Up" button after confirming the contents of this Privacy Policy at the time of registration, or by clicking the "Agree" button in other circumstances.


1. Definitions

  1. "Business Operator" means an individual business or a corporate operator that enters into a Service Agreement under these Terms and uses the Services provided by Channel.
  2. "Manager" means an individual who, as an employee or agent of a Business Operator, has the legitimate authority to do business, including communicating with Customers, by using the Platform directly for the Business Operator. The legal effect of the Manager's actions under these Terms shall bind the Business Operator.
  3. "Customer" means the person the Manager is talking to through the Platform.

2. Collection of Personal Information

  • Purpose of Collection

Channel collects the personal information about Users that is necessary for Users to use the Services. Personal information of the Manager may be collected with the consent of the Manager to provide marketing information. If the above personal information is collected for any other purpose, separate consent will be obtained from the Users.

If you refuse to consent to the collection and use of personal information regarding the required items, 'Business Authentication' will be restricted, and you may be restricted from using 'Channel Meet (Calling) Service' accordingly. The information collected in this way may constitute personal information if it is linked to other personal information, but it does not constitute personal information if it is not linked.  


3. Cookies

  • Cookie

A very small text file that a website sends to the User's browser when the User accesses the website and is stored on the User's PC.

  • Purpose

Channel use cookies to store and retrieve your information from time to time in order to provide you with personalized and customized services. When you visit a website, the website server reads the cookies stored on your device to maintain your preferences and provide you with personalized services. When you visit the Website, cookies help you access and use the Website as you have set up, and provide you with customized information, such as the history of your visits to the Website and optimized advertisements based on your usage.

  • Opt-out from Cookie Collection

You have the option of accepting or rejecting cookies through your cookie settings, which can be found at the top of your web browser under the "Settings > Privacy > Cookies and other site data" path. However, if you refuse to accept cookies, your web experience may be impaired and you may not be able to use some services that require you to log in. Channel will never disclose information from cookies to third parties, except through a valid legal process.

  • Collection Methods

Channel collects personal information through (1) direct input from users through the homepage or mobile application when registering or in the process of using the service, (2) automatic collection of input from users through plug-ins installed on the homepage of ChannelTalk, and (3) collection from third parties who have already obtained consent from users to process personal information. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PRIVACY POLICY DOES NOT APPLY TO THE COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION THAT IS PROVIDED TO CHANNEL BY A THIRD PARTY WITH CONSENT FROM THE USER.

4. Use of Collected Personal Information

Channel collects and uses the User’s personal information to provide/improve the Services and develop new services.

While Users use the Service, Channel will continue to retain your personal information and use it to provide you with convenient services. However, if Users request to change or delete his/her personal information, Channel deletes the personal information in accordance with the policy and makes it unavailable for further viewing or use.

  • Use of Pseudonymized Information

Channel may pseudonymize the personal information it collects to make it unrecognizable to a specific individual and process it for statistical purposes, scientific research, public record keeping, etc. In this case, pseudonymized information is managed separately from additional information so that it cannot be re-identified, and necessary technical and administrative safeguards are taken.

  • Personal Information of Children Under 14

Channel does not allow children under the age of 14 to register for membership, which requires the consent of a legal representative.


5. Sharing of Personal Information

Channel does not provide personal information to external parties without your prior consent. However, the Channel may provide personal information to third parties without your consent in accordance with applicable laws and regulations in the following cases:

  1. Where the information is requested by an investigative agency or other government agency in accordance with the law in due process; and
  2. Where otherwise required by laws.

6. Retention and Destruction of Personal Information

  1. Channel destroys Users' personal information without delay when the purpose of collection and use is achieved. (Here, 'when the purpose of use is achieved' means when a withdrawal request is made, the service contract expires, or the user withdraws.) However, if there is a storage period stipulated by the Channel’s internal policy or related laws, it is stored for a certain period of time and then destroyed.
  2. Personal information printed on paper is destroyed by shredding or incineration, and records stored in the form of electronic files are deleted using technical methods that cannot be reproduced.
  3. Channel faithfully implements the rules for storing personal information in accordance with the ‘ACT ON PROMOTION OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK UTILIZATION AND INFORMATION PROTECTION’, ‘ELECTRONIC FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS ACT’, and other related laws.

7. Outsourcing and International Transfer of personal information processing

In order to improve management efficiency and enhance service quality, Channel outsources part of its business to third parties, such as external specialized companies, and entrusts them to collect, store, process, use, provide, manage, and destroy users' personal information and customer information held by the business. In this regard, the contents of the consignees and consigned tasks are as follows.

If you don't use the services related to the work the channel is outsourcing to a contractor, your personal information is not provided to the contractor.


In this regard, Channel stipulates the necessary matters and manages and supervises the entrusted companies to safely handle personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.


Channel will take the necessary measures required by law, such as amending this Privacy Policy to disclose it, if it is necessary to further entrust the processing of personal information to a third party.


Channel does not provide personal information to other businesses outside of Korea. However, in order to fulfill contracts for the provision of information and communication services and to improve user convenience, Channel entrusts the following personal information processing tasks to overseas companies. In addition, if you do not use the related services, your personal information will not be provided to the contractor.

8. Rights and obligations of information

The information subject may exercise the right to view, correct, delete, or request suspension of processing of personal information at any time to the Channel. You can exercise these rights through email, chat consultation, etc. of the Channel, and the Channel will act on the relevant request without delay. However, if the personal information is specified as the subject of collection under other laws, you cannot request its deletion.


9. Technical and managerial measures to protect personal information

Channel does its best to prevent the leakage or damage of Manager's personal information by hacking or computer viruses.


Channel backs up data from time to time in preparation for personal information damage, use the latest anti-virus program to prevent Managers' personal information and data from being leaked or damaged, and makes it possible to securely transmit personal information on the network through encrypted communications. In addition, we use the firewall system to control unauthorized access from outside, and we strive to have all possible technical devices to ensure security in the systems.


Channel's staff for processing personal information is limited to personnel, and we provide a separate password renewed regularly, and we emphasize compliance with our Privacy Policy through on-the-go training for personnel.


However, Channel is not responsible for the leakage of personal information due to Manager's negligence. Therefore, we ask that Manager makes every effort to protect your privacy.


10. Feedback and Contact Information

Channel is listening to the Users’ opinion regarding privacy and has all procedures and methods in place to handle complaints. Users can file a complaint with Channel's privacy officer and staff, and Channel will respond promptly and sufficiently to the Manager's report. You can also address complaints to the following agencies installed and operated by the government:

2. Privacy Officer and Staff responsible for managing personal information

Channel is committed to keeping the Users’ valuable information safe. In the event of an accident that violates the notice in the protection of personal information, the Privacy Officer will perform the necessary tasks including follow-up processing. Channel has designated Privacy Officer and Staff in charge of collecting opinions on personal information and handling complaints.

Any addition, deletion, or change of contents of this Policy due to changes in laws, policies, or security technologies, or other updates of this Policy, will be notified through our Services at least seven (7) days prior to the Effective Date of the change.
